1)
Hey Hey Ho the north winds blow, o’er the ice and frozen snow;
Sleigh bells ring, as we sing, on our way we go.
Santa Claus lives up there, with the reindeer, and the bear,
and we’ll roam, thru his home, Up in the northern world.
2)
Tra la la, we shout and sing, and our echoes loudly ring,
As our steed, with all speed, takes us on our way.
Santa Claus at the door greets us with a lusty roar,
merrily, bids us be Guests for a nice long stay.
3)
Hip hip hip and how we yell, as we make our fond farewell,
and we cry, as we fly, on our homeward road.
Santa Claus, waves “good-bye”, and then turns with a deep sigh,
for alone, he must roam, Up in the northern world.
This is one of the Santa carols we do, and not one most people know these days. It envisions a visit to Santa at the north pole, arriving by sleigh. It is fun and merry. I especially like Santa’s deep sigh, living alone and looking forward to guests. It personalizes him in a way he so often isn’t.
