I mentioned in an earlier post my idea of reviewing my educational experiences as a background to my 30th high school reunion. That starts with kindergarten.
I didn’t attend the Horseheads Christian School until 3rd grade, so my kindergarten story won’t start at the school my series is supposed to feature. If anyone in the class did start in kindergarten, I wish you would chime in and give some reflections about that time.
For my part, I will start with my kindergarten in the South Corning Elementary School, p.m. half-day class.
My teacher was Barbara Dalton. I only have two recollections of that year. One I am sure was real, the other I am not so sure. I remember enjoying scooting around on a wooden truck during play time — that may not be real — I had a similar one at home.
I do remember not answering questions when the teacher asked them. My teacher mentioned that to my mom, who asked me why I didn’t answer. I said I didn’t answer the questions because she already knew the answers. So mom explained that the teacher was asking to make sure that I knew the answers.
And that is the sum of my memories of kindergarten.
Does anyone have memories of their kindergarten? I’d love to hear.
