Sensorship — Censorship

Okay, in my communications class someone was talking about technology and mentioned Chinese government censorship of the internet. Only the person talked about sensorship. Which led me to some interesting thoughts.

Censorship is about examining to remove the offensive.

Sensorship is like “Captain, sensors indicate the presence of an alien life form,” or Data’s “I love scanning for life forms.”

Yet maybe there is a connection between the two.

One of our readings compared the internet to an extension of our nervous systems. So the internet becomes a form of sensorship. So censorship affects our sensorship, the way we sense things.  And the way it is affected we may or may not even notice, the way sensorship can be subtly affected.

So how do we extend our sensorship in the presence of censorship.
