Well, I signed up for a play slot on the semi-open beta, and it started at 7 p.m. tonight. I managed to create my new character — Master Alvin Wonderbrains — an homage to my former character, Prof. Alvin Wonderbrains. He has a look as close to his inspiration as I could do.
The Beta has some stability issues. Nathan and Betsy talked about taking time before they could log on. I got in right away, but found a lot of freezing and slow transitions. When I played my first trolley game with another person, the game ended and it never gave us our jellybeans — we were just stuck until I closed out the game window.
I did manage to complete several tasks – increasing my laugh level to 17, and earning my level 2 throw and squirt gags. I also made the decision to start earning the toonup gags first.
The game decided to go down for maintenance 8 minutes before the end of my 3-hour play slot. So I completed a fair amount of what I wanted but was unable to sign up for another play slot after completing this one. So when it comes back up, I probably won’t have access to sign up until several other hours later, giving other people first chance to choose the next play slots.
