At the beginning of the month I had this vision of what fun it would be to get off work, come home, and whisk the entire family off to Oceans of Fun for a cool, refreshing swim each evening before supper.
Like most plans of this type, reality got in the way. First my own sickness, then the work schedule itself prevented me from getting off in time to make Oceans of Fun.
But the past two nights have been ideal. I got off on time, rode my bicycle home, and then whisked the family off to Oceans of Fun. That lets us get there about 6 p.m., and since it closes at 7 p.m., we have just about an hour to swim and cool off before heading home to have supper.
I’d suggested to Nathan that we could ride our bicycles over to Oceans of Fun (it is close enough) so he could get another workout in for his online Physical Education course, but he declined that option tonight. Still, it is something I’d enjoy doing. There is something enjoyable about being able to get around by bicycle.
Next week, of course, I won’t be doing it either. The Kansas City Corporate Challenge is having its swim meet, and I will be there everything evening from 5 p.m. on keeping my company team organized as the company swim coordinator.
We always get our money’s worth out of our season passes, but it is amazing how much more we could get out of it than we usually end up doing.
