In Praise of Ambiguity

I found the below video by Penn & Teller to be very thought-provoking. Watch it and reflect. Where we want to be definite and certain about what we know, they present a compelling argument that it is the ambiguity through which we celebrate our freedom. Totalitarians are the ones who want things certain and specific. It doesn’t matter to them if it is true or not, just that everyone is following and believing the same thing all together. So celebrate our differences, and our ability to disagree.

(For the below video, let me apologize in advance if any of you are sensitive. Penn and Teller and libertarian of a type that is often not careful about the use of language and obscenity.  I don’t remember hearing anything in this video when I watched it, but I might have missed something.  But even if I did, the message itself is nothing to apologize for.)

And with that, let me close with a musical cue — one that celebrates our uniqueness, and our freedom.
