Catching up on friends present and absent.

We had a nice time at the reunion, catching up on old friends both present and absent. Ten of our 28 graduates were in attendance, with some spouses and children. Conversation turned to where we were and where those absent were. To the knowledge of everyone present all 28 graduates are still alive, although we have lost certain contact with a few that we want to reestablish.

Miss Oldroyd and Mr. Schultz came as well to remember fond times. We were a little teasing with Miss Oldroyd, making her try to name people she saw — until we finally gave her a yearbook to help her remember. She has only had 30 other graduating classes besides us to remember, in addition to the ones before, after all.

We also remembered moments like the senior play Arsenic and Old Lace, where Mr. Schultz and Jim Barnes sat down and designed a stage that would fit into the old gym to allow “Teddy Roosevelt” played by Randy Decker, to charge up the stairs each night and go through a door with nothing beyond it. Mr. Schultz said he didn’t know how they could do, it but Jim said sure they could, and they did. Both Jim and Mr. Schultz were there at the reunion, and neither remembered exactly how they did it.DSC05331

Miss Oldroyd also gave us a tour of the new school building — but I will save views of that until tomorrow’s blog.
