Today I took a 20-plus mile bicycle ride, wearing short and a T-shirt in about 50 degree weather. By the time I came back I was hot and sweating in some parts, cold to the touch in others. But I felt warm and invigorated.
Now I am sitting in a 73 degree house, wrapped in a blanket, feeling cold. Interesting how the sense of what is hot, and what is cold, is not directly related to the actual temperature being experienced. It isn’t just being active or not either.
Which brings me to the other thought, about perspective. How the same reality can be experienced and perceived differently by different people. Which doesn’t make it a different reality. Confusing the perception with reality is the danger. Getting locked into the idea that our perception is the only truth about reality. The contra danger is thinking that all perceptions are equally valid understandings of the truth. Both of these errors, in the extreme, are prone to being cured — by reality — through the finality of death.
End of musing for the day.
