Into the Woods

Fairy Tales tell interesting stories. Interesting morals. But what happens after their end? Stephen Sondheim conjectured some interesting continuations, and some interesting ethical questions in “Into the Woods.”

Disney is releasing a new movie adaptation of the Sondheim play. Not knowing much, I have heard enough to know that they have made some serious changes. Are they good? I’m a sceptic at this point.

IMDB summarizes the new movie as such:

A witch conspires to teach important lessons to various characters of popular children’s stories including Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk and Rapunzel.

In this new movie the witch is the person trying to explain the morals. There is no Narrator, as there was in the original. Somehow that just seems a drastic twist.

Is it making a good move from stage to screen?
