Today’s episode of my Spokane/Gonzaga travelogue is about signs. I noticed a lot of signs around the Gonzaga campus, enough to make a video montage from the footage I shot.
The wall you see scanned, that looks like it has graffiti over it, has an interesting history. Apparently it was originally put up to keep students from trampling the Jesuit’s rose garden. The wall got painted with slogans, and now it is used as a social commentary and public announcement board. Who knows how thick the paint is, or whether there is really any wall left underneath?
The carved words at the end of the video come off the new campus center building that was under construction while I was there, and is to be dedicated later this year. I thought the words dovetailed nicely with the rest of the signs and the sentiments from the wall.
