Men’s Choir did two songs that I recognized as regular, but welcome, fare from previous years. Of course, it was the same song with different lyrics.
They did three songs total:
- God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen — E Campbell
- Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening — R. Thompson
- The Restroom Door — Unknown
This is a traditional Christmas carol, and the arrangement is the same as done in previous years. It has a nice cadence to it. They sang well, sometimes the do doots and the lyrics got just a bit off, but the Yeah! at the end was perfect. I enjoyed it. I only wonder why it was “comfert” instead of “comfort”.
The program doesn’t credit Robert Frost, the poet whose words the composer set here in a very haunting fashion. You get a real feel of the quiet of the woodland scene.
They closed with their favorite piece — A parody of their first. Apart from starting a little bit uncoordinated, they executed this very well.
