God Moments – At Liberty (MO) Hospital

Thank you, Gideons International!

Part of my healing regimen is to walk as often as possible, to prevent blood clots. During walking the floor I happened to walk into a waiting room on the floor, and discover the New Testament/Psalms left by the Gideons International.

That brought back many memories of my dad and mom. Dad as a self-employed dairyman, and thus business man, was active with the Gideons distributing scriptures for years, and mom also participated, handing out many Nurse’s Testaments and placing Bibles in hospital rooms. Seeing that New Testament brought back many memories of their devotion and service to spreading the gospel through the printed word and personal testimony.

Seeing that reminded me of the many “God Moments” I have experienced here at Liberty Hospital. There was more than just medical reasons why I transferred to Liberty Hospital.

I had several good conversations with other patients, encouraging and being encouraged. One with an 80 plus aged couple, married 28 years, about their love and his determination to leave here after double back surgeries without having to go to a rehab center.

Another with a nurse about a missionary to Haiti she followed and supports, who is helping people flee from the path of maurading gangs that are going through and killing people. Though not heard through the major media, through social media we can be connected to people on the ground, to know their experiences and extend Christian Charity(love).

And a final example with a patient care tech whose 20 plus years have included working through the COVID Lockdown, and her commitment, when others quit the field, scared of the “plague” to continue to demonstrate faith and compassion through her daily work, to not fall prey to the hysteria, but cling to the hope that Christ can express through every one of us to those around us.

And thus my own exercise is finding how to talk my faith, while walking it in and around the floor here at the hospital. To know Christ lives and breathes in so many more people and places than the big picture people would have us believe. And as we believe Him, and not them, we shall find blessings in every place we can go. For Great is thy Faithfulness, O God my Father…
