Establishing a timeline

Of course the house fire (arson) occurred while I was trying to treat a medical condition.

Treating the infected leg has hampered the attempts to clean up the damage/rubble at the house. Likewise, the fire and its aftermath complicated treating the leg and ulimately made it take longer than I think it should have.

I got out of the hospital on Friday afternoon. Today I have the first of two visits to my regular medical doctors. I have another one on Thursday. Hopefully both of them find the leg suitably healed and the infection gone. Or if there is infection left, they spot it and finish eradicating it.

On Wednesday I have the representative of a restoration company coming to examine our house and give us his evaluation of the damage and what is needed to restore it. By combining that with an assessment of our resources, that should give us a way to put together a timeline for what we have to do.

This is what we have been missing as we try to get ourselves back together. We need temporary housing, but for how long? It is hard to come up with the right option without a timeframe. We have been bouncing around various hotels up to now, but will have to find something more permanent to bridge the time from now until restoration is complete (this is assuming we can find the resources to do the restoration).

So after the meeting Wednesday, hopefully we will have enough information to start making decisions that will help us get back into the house. To get back into the house we are also going to have to depend on the generosity of a lot of people. We won’t be able to do it on our own. We will put a lot of sweat equity into the process, and hopefully, with enough outside help, be able to get back to living independently.
