On the one side, then again, on the other side …

Yesterday I took some pictures of the demolition project as it currently stands. The top three pictures show three diffent sides of the addition at the back of the house that was so badly damaged that we are taking it all down to the foundation (actually leaving foundation and floor), and hope to turn it into our walkout deck/patio to replace the deck we lost.

The three different sides show three different statuses. The first side has burned siding along with undamaged siding, The second side was totally taken out by the fire, and the third side had the same damage/undamage effect as the first side, but the vinyl siding has been removed.

The last two pictures show the siding and insulation that was removed. The final picture shows 22 feet strips of siding and mounting brackets.

Since the back room isn’t being replaced, the wall the middle section used to share with it will go from an inside to an outside wall. I am salvaing the siding to cover this external wall.

Though the demolition has been going on since day two, In order to get back into the house legally we need to get two permits: electical reconnect; and parial demo. This is my current understanding at the moment anyway. Based on bids I have sought out, the work to pass inspection and be approved for these permits, should cost about $4K for the electrician and $4K for the structural engineer. We are trying to accomplish this in 28 days, with the count starting this past Friday. So I figure the Lord is going to show us how He will provide $10,000 within the next month to make our goal.

Of course, getting in the house is just another beginnig on our mission to restore the house to function.
