There are a whole bunch of people out there who have warned us about people around us who hate and are going to make our world into a hellish place to live.
These people shout down the other people and refuse to listen to them. They spread scaremongering stories about things they have heard with no background or context to help and protect us from these haters.
They are astonished that the “haters” are moving so slowly doing the things they know the “haters” will do, but which these alleged “haters” have either never said anything about, or have specifically said they will not do.
They have created for themselves a world of fear of these others who don’t agree with them, and will not be taken in by the truth. Like the Dwarfs in C.S. Lewis’ The Last Battle, even though they talk about doing all this stuff for others, when it comes down to it, it is only the anti-haters for the anti-haters. They cease to be FOR anything. And they wonder why we ignore them and consider them irrelevant, and pass them on.
It is because we have done for them what Christ said of the Pharisees and Saducees. “We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not mourn.” Matthew 11:17 NIV. So, becoming irrelevant, we tried, but will not let our Joy become hostage to their fearmongering “love”, and so move on without them.
And yet I write this, one more/last attempt to encourage them to come out of darkness and into the light, out of fear and into joy, away from hate and toward the love the rest of us have for life and the living.
To refer to The Last Battle one more time, the histories record the upheavals, but the real life is between them, the short section near the end of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe where the four siblings reign peacefully for years, not the turbid pages that make up most of the story.
Come join us there, where there is Peace aplenty for all. Stop the hatemongering. You warn us of your own hate, not any of ours. Leave it behind.
