Waterworks

Today’s post is a five minute video of work we did the other night to replace the liner on our pond with a new and bigger one.

We worked at night because it was very hot during the day, and both for ourselves and the grass it was more tolerable.

The issue in replacing the liner was what to do with the water currently in the pond. We built a temporary second pond a little above the current one and pumped the current pond ‘s water into it. There is no footage of that in the video.

The video starts with a bit of my digging the old pond larger and deeper. Then we put the old liners back and the new liner on top of it. No footage of that.

The bulk of the video is prepping the pond to have the water put back in. At this stage you get to see the temporary pond right before I take down the lower dike and the whole body of water surges into the pond.

There is no sound on the video until just before the water starts it’s journey home.
