I would be a lot better off if I could be vindictive or spiteful, because I have so much to be so about. Pastor Edd Wunderlich of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church is just one more pastor who has taken my loyalty and trust and stabbed me in the back with it. And yet I still … Continue reading False Police Report
Author: Sir Rhodri
Creational and relational type Renaissance man (writer, singer, thinker) holding to C.S Lewis's credo that if you follow truth originality takes care of itself, (anyway, originality is so yesterday, anyway.) That I have my wonderful wife Jasini is proof enough for me that life isn't fair. If it was fair I wouldn't have her, and instead she is my most faithful example that I am blessed beyond measure. My two adult children are the same unmerited blessing to me. We should all be thankful life is not fair but blessed.
Church Inc. is Church Ltd.
The Church as a business and organization has GOT to stop. Someone should not come to church and ask for help with a spiritual matter, and find that the church staff or members first consider its purported impact on the church itself, and promise to help the suppliant with their issue, but only respond with … Continue reading Church Inc. is Church Ltd.
Life Verse Suggestion #1
For those Christians hip enough (boy, is that an out of date expression, "hip") to go in for the "Life Verse" sort of thing, may I recommend that you take seriously the consideration of Matthew 5:11. But more than that, use Matthew 10:36 as your supporting verse. And then interpret the whole thing thinking about … Continue reading Life Verse Suggestion #1
The Road to Libertarian Theology
You shouldn’t see and experience exactly the things I do, so we can also learn from each other, but we both should come to know enough about Him (God) to recognize when someone is faking it, telling us things about Him that aren’t true, not because they aren’t stated precisely the same way we say … Continue reading The Road to Libertarian Theology
Anniversary
Jasini and I celebrated 28 years together today. It was sort of like the friendship flower garden I have out front. We went over to a friend's house and took her tomatoes and had a wonderful discussion about gardens, our lives, the gifts of God and the freedom of our lives that he's given us. … Continue reading Anniversary
What’s Black and White and Smelled All Over?
It certainly isn't the skunks at Worlds of Fun. Tonight I saw two of the more than 10 skunks verified to be at the park, and have seen several of them over the course of the past several weeks, but I have yet to smell one of them (phew!) The skunks are in several places … Continue reading What’s Black and White and Smelled All Over?
Deja vu all over again?
We have been betrayed by church after church, and finally wonder if we dare say anything at the latest refuge we have found, or if doing so will make it another place of betrayal. I cannot believe it of these people, and yet irrational fear casts its shadow over my contemplations. For even if the … Continue reading Deja vu all over again?
The Sixth of December
To get a feel for the mental instability that caused me so much pain, I think analyzing a pastoral care episode for Rev. Michael Dunlap would lay the groundwork for understanding the lay of the land in laity land, and our unease. So, one of Michael's Parishioner's, me, on Dec. 6, 2021, was assaulted by … Continue reading The Sixth of December
“The one thing I am still really irritated at …”
Jasini and I were returning Saturday night from Worlds of Fun. As we turned the corner by the Avondale United Methodist Church, I noticed someone leaving the building and heading to her lone car in the parking lot. "There, dear" I said "is the new pastor of the church (Reverend Rebecca Dunger Peak) heading to … Continue reading “The one thing I am still really irritated at …”
Gracious Dental Care
I haven't had very good success with dentists recently, until now. Of my previous two dentists, the furthest back I got kicked out of by the receptionist when my cell phone dropped her call and I showed up at the office thinking I had given her my number and wondering why she hadn't called me … Continue reading Gracious Dental Care
