Author: Sir Rhodri

Creational and relational type Renaissance man (writer, singer, thinker) holding to C.S Lewis's credo that if you follow truth originality takes care of itself, (anyway, originality is so yesterday, anyway.) That I have my wonderful wife Jasini is proof enough for me that life isn't fair. If it was fair I wouldn't have her, and instead she is my most faithful example that I am blessed beyond measure. My two adult children are the same unmerited blessing to me. We should all be thankful life is not fair but blessed.

#113: The Old Rugged Cross

(Part of a series singing through the hymnbook I grew up with: Great Hymns of the Faith) 1 On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross, The emblem of suff'ring and shame; And I love that old cross where the dearest and best For a world of lost sinners was slain. CHORUS So … Continue reading #113: The Old Rugged Cross →

An Open Letter to the RNC

Dear RNC, beloved GOP of my political infancy and early adulthood: I know you have been trying to reach me for the past several years; the letters come with precisioned regularity. They thank me for all my past support, or offer me another survey that ends with the opportunity to donate money to the cause. … Continue reading An Open Letter to the RNC →

Fitness Update: Carelessness

I have seen a lot of talk on fitness sites and Facebook fitness posts about tracking and following and using this regimen or that. Discipline, discipline, discipline is the name of the game. While I realize it is important to have structure if you plan to reach or maintain a certain goal, I think most … Continue reading Fitness Update: Carelessness →

#112: Blessed Redeemer

(Part of a series singing through the hymnbook I grew up with: Great Hymns of the Faith) 1 Up Calv'ry's mountain, one dreadful morn, Walked Christ my Savior, weary and worn; Facing for sinners death on the cross, That He might save them from endless loss. CHORUS Blessed Redeemer, precious Redeemer!  Seems now I see … Continue reading #112: Blessed Redeemer →

Hugos: Voting Complete

Well, I did it, I got through all the Hugo nomination categories, reviewed each one and put in my vote for what I thought were the best. I did it with no appeal to the No Award category. Sorry, I just feel that most uses of that category show one to be entirely too stuck … Continue reading Hugos: Voting Complete →

If/Then

Starlight Theatre is having a run of the musical "If/Then" this week.  We went and saw it Tuesday night, the opening night. We began the evening with the Best of Broadway Applause dinner club. For once there was nothing to comment on, a little slow getting us our drinks at the beginning, but the food … Continue reading If/Then →

#111: What Will You Do with Jesus?

(Part of a series singing through the hymnbook I grew up with: Great Hymns of the Faith) 1 Jesus is standing in Pilate's hall -- Friendless, forsaken, betrayed by all: Hearken! what meaneth the sudden call! What will you do with Jesus? CHORUS What will you do with Jesus? Neutral you cannot be; Some day … Continue reading #111: What Will You Do with Jesus? →

Refiner’s Fire

Today's post is video from Sunday's service.  I'm trying a new video editor, gives me a few new options, but I also have to refigure out how to do some things that I used to know how to do.

Fitness Update: Heat

This week in fitness had one main theme: Heat. We have been having a heatwave here in the midwest, with triple digits visiting us in both the heat index, and sometimes the actual temperature. What does this mean for fitness? Well, for  many people it means they cancel it. For others they just push through … Continue reading Fitness Update: Heat →
