Starlight Theatre in Kansas City is sponsoring "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat this week. Rather than a touring show from Broadway, it is an Independent Presenters Network production, co-sponsored by some 40+ theaters, including Kansas City's Starlight. The show stars Diana DeGarmo as the narrator and Ace Young as Joseph -- both names that … Continue reading Joseph not so Amazing but worth seeing
Almost Famous
Sarah is one unusual woman/person -- or perhaps, just perhaps, not so unusual about fame. It is a trap to many people who find it. Read her thoughts and think about it ....
Waiting for the rabbit
Last night we started hoping for the soon arrival of Google Fiber in our fiberhood more than ever. A thunderstorm started and our Clear.com modem was able to get the tower but not able to get the internet. Betsy had just really gotten into her play time on ToonTown Rewritten, and Nathan was counting down … Continue reading Waiting for the rabbit
Reasonableness affects membership
One of the dangers of starting a debate, is that you never know for sure where logic might go. It is about the same as Bilbo, in the Lord of the Rings, warning Frodo about walking out his door. It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if … Continue reading Reasonableness affects membership
In Praise of Ambiguity
I found the below video by Penn & Teller to be very thought-provoking. Watch it and reflect. Where we want to be definite and certain about what we know, they present a compelling argument that it is the ambiguity through which we celebrate our freedom. Totalitarians are the ones who want things certain and specific. … Continue reading In Praise of Ambiguity
Fireworks Photos
Today I am giving a large gallery of fireworks photos. Worlds of Fun had a good 20 minutes fireworks show. Then it took us 40 minutes to get out of the parking lot, 30 of them standing perfectly still in the same spot. Some people with SUV type vehicles started driving over the curb and … Continue reading Fireworks Photos
A disjointed reflection on freedom
Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal. Being independence day, I decided to write something about freedom, and what it means, and how the general cultural view might miss some of … Continue reading A disjointed reflection on freedom
Mugshots of characters
This is an interesting attempt to use sims to create visuals of the characters in my wife’s current book-in-progress.
I still owe a few people book reviews, which I’ll try to get out in the next week, but I thought today I’d do something else today, once I finish battling with WordPress, which has changed its posting interface without notice. (Going through the Dashboard to create a post brings us back to the old posting interface).
Some time ago I Simmed all the main characters in my An & Mattan story (currently available unedited under “Writing” in the sidebar, if you can get through it). So, just for kicks, I’m going to show what the characters look like. Since I’m not one for making custom content, I’ve been stuck using whatever hair I can find, and sometimes I’m not too happy with what I come up with.
But anyway:
- An
Her picture turns out pretty well. She’s almost smiling (unlike most of the rest of the pictures, where my characters…

Cherry Cornbread Muffins
Okay, I've still got some cherries left, and need to do something with them. So last night I whipped up this improvised recipe of a plain blueberry muffin recipe. First, I checked the cupboard and noticed we were low on flour, but had cornmeal, so, I split the flour between the two. Second, I replaced … Continue reading Cherry Cornbread Muffins
How disaster-proof we aren’t
Disaster preparedness. Disaster can take so many forms. What sort of disasters do you prepare for, and in what way? How severe? Is there any way to be truly prepared? Based on your physical circumstance or political leanings, you can see the above questions differently. The reason I decided to write on this today is … Continue reading How disaster-proof we aren’t
