Well, the day started brisk and cool, with the R Mech crew out here promptly at 8:30, and the inspector promptly at 10:30ish (real close to that 9 a.m. first call the city had told the R Mech crew).
Once the inspector got here, the work moved quickly. Tim was already packing in the earth near the house while the inspector dropped the meter into the pit and opened the water, then started wiring the meter to the electronic box that keeps track of the usage and forwards it to the meter readers electronically.
From there it was a simple finishing of moving the earth back into the trench, and pulling the equipment back home. And even though they were delayed by the city, the cost didn’t go over bid. We paid and they were on their way.
Of course during the afternoon I got Nathan out there raking the dirt, cutting any of the roots still sticking up, etc., while I relaid the flowers and edging for the flowerbeds. Then it was the last of my grass seed to cover the trench and start the process of reshaping the lawn. At least this time there is season left for things to regrow (when the city put the new water main in they somehow expected grass to grow in November).
So here are the finish pictures.

Yay! Water!
