The Captains

Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before.

We are watching a special, narrated by William Shatner, as he interviews all the captains of the other Star Trek. It discusses their time on the show, how they developed the show, their personal lives and how the show made an impact on it.

The one thing that comes out of it is the hope of Star Trek. The envisioning of a brighter future. This idea was expanded in a blog recently on Mad Genius Club.

The one thing about Star Trek is that it is a positive look at the world, the future. Even in the reboot, where they wanted another something gritty, they cannot get away from positive, looking forward element. So rare today, and yet we cannot forget the positive, the human wave element in our quest for the future, for the stars.

  1. About the only thing I didn’t like about it was the music. The background music seemed to be oddly chosen, and frequently overwhelmed the speakers.

  2. I’ve watched most of the Star Trek series (although I never saw the one with Scott Bakula) and enjoyed most of them (although personally I prefer TNG/Picard) so I think this special would’ve interested me. Do you remember the name of the special and whether or not it will be on again?
