WinterFest: Lighting the Tree

Last weekend was the first weekend of WinterFest at Worlds of Fun.  We weren’t able to get out to experience it until Sunday evening, but it was certainly a well-developed event. Several items were still in the process of being set up, but that did not distract from the overall festive impact of the time.

I took a lot of pictures and videos, but have only had time for a little editing, so today’s feature is the tree-lighting ceremony, held nightly at 5:30 p.m.  It was a good ceremony, but did hit one of my perennial hot topics.  You cannot ask people to sing along if you are singing a revised, special, stage-edited version of the song.

So here is the video:

Winterfest is open this weekend 5-10 p.m.  Friday-Sunday

  1. Leaders can and do this all the time. It is not a question ability to do something, but rather is it appropriate? If the leader really cared if people sang; the leader would make for them to sing.
