Songflower Chorale, a local choral ensemble standing on the long and illustrious tradition of the Kansas City Fine Arts Chorale, presents “Students and Teachers” 3 p.m. Sunday April 29th at Historic St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 1307 Holes, Kansas City, MO

The concert’s repertoire consists of unique works focused on the passing of musical language and tradition from each generation to the next. Included are works of Padre G. B. Martini, a Viennese composer and priest under whom young Mozart studied counterpoint, Gottfried August Homilius, a Swedish organist and composer who studied under J. S. Bach, and several modern composers including renowned teachers such as Paul Chihara and Cecil Effinger. They will also present brand new works by Leslee Wood, Nick Shaheed, and Shelby Scott, all studying composition at the University of Kansas, along with works by composer and director Geoffrey Wilcken. The Chorale will also be assisted by the John Schafer at the organ.

Admittance is free and open to the public; donations at the door are most welcome. The Songflower Chorale is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and relies entirely on donations to fund its outreach to the Kansas City metropolitan area.
