So I was shocked the other day to learn that Methodists are polytheists. I saw the above sign, talking about multiple Gods, and wondered when they had forgotten about Deuteronomy 6:4 – “The LORD our God, the LORD is one “
Now, I know, some of you are going to say, “give them a break, that isn’t what they meant. Stop picking on them just because someone forgot to use an apostrophe.”
But if I stop picking on them for that, then I have to pick on them for the really serious error they made, and then they might do something really serious – like ban me from their property or try to disenfranchise me so I cannot vote. But wait, they have already tried both of those, so why not pick on them for their latest heresy?
So God has a middle name does He? I think that might come as a surprise to Him. And while The Handbook of Libertarian Theology has speculated that God might want us to surprise Him, I don’t think this is the sort of surprise He had in mind. Nor that this really surprises Him. He may well surprise us, but the hardly makes it his middle name.
There are a lot of names for God mentioned in the Bible: surprise is NOT one of them.
So to arbitrarily give God a name is to make God who you want Him to be, rather than taking Him for who He is. Thus they are practicing idolatry.
But since they have already broken so many of the 10 commandments, why not that one as well…

Here is where I need to put a disclaimer. It is the hierarchy of the church that I am aiming my comments at. I still know and talk to members of the church (ones who are ignoring the banning and shunning of me from the propery and treating me as Christ would) and am saddened that they are being betrayed by such leadership.
