Here is my latest attempt to: blog (regularly), and update on the progress of rebuilding “At the Rainbow” (our house/home that was devastated by a fire on Aug. 6 (set by an arsonist).
It is now over three months, and we finally know what is needed to be allowed legally back into our house. The first of the two main stages kicks off this Wednesday, when we get an electrician (Mr. Electric), to repair the Riser to the meter that was damaged, and have them give our Breaker Box a “tune up” to remove damaged and dangerous circuits from said box.
Once that work is completed, the city will inspect, and hopefully approve turning our electricity on. Then our local electric supplier, Evergy, will take 1-5 days to give us an electric meter and turn our electricity back on.
This means that somewhere between Thursday and the following Thursday we should have power back in our house. We won’t have the permit to live in it yet, but will be able to have lights, etc.
Whatever day the power is on, we intend to have an open house at the house the following Sunday, from 1-4 p.m., to celebrate the return of power. Everyone that can make it is invited to come by and see all we have done, and all that is left to be done, to restore the house from the fire.
So you are the first to know. We look forward to seeing you there. Stay tuned for the announcement of the precise date.
