I make a new year’s resolution (gasp)

I am not the type to make new year’s resolutions. I prefer to make my resolutions as I go along instead. But this year someone talked about an idea that made me decide to adopt a version of something she does.

The Wise Woman of Gracemor sent Jasini and I a text today about her Joy Jar from 2024. She said in reading the notes in it our names had come up frequently, and she thanked us.

This led to inquiring about what a Joy Jar was. I also did an abbreviated online look, and while the online explanations were somewhat different, I decided I wanted to do the Joy Jar similar to how my friend does it.

You take a jar and place it someone you will see it easily and frequently, and place a note pad and pen next to it. Throughout the year, every time you experience a joy, you write it down and stick the note in the jar. At the end of the year you read the notes to recall all those good things that happened.

Jasini is going to join in — we will make it a household jar — and the first note in will be having the idea suggested to us.

I have contemplated reviewing each month’s notes at the end the of the month, and then reviewing them all at the end of the year. It couldn’t hurt to be reminded of each item twice, and recalling them closer to when they occurred could also be a good thing.

I would enjoy people in the comments talking about why they might or might not like to do their own Joy Jar.
