I think 2005 was one of the years I put more energy into the home garden. The inherited flower beds became definite vegetable gardens this year. The planting certainly was fun; the pictures show the energy the kids put into the process: We planted onions on one side of the house, and potatoes on … Continue reading A Blast of the Past #60:urban vegetable gardening

Being Weird with Weird Al
I don't attend rock concerts -- as a general rule. But I did attend one Sunday Night. Weird Al Yankovic was in concert at Starlight Theatre in Kansas City, so I went, equipped with ear plugs, and had a good time. My cultural references aren't that good, so I only recognized parts of the parodies, … Continue reading Being Weird with Weird Al
Fitness Update: Carelessness
I have seen a lot of talk on fitness sites and Facebook fitness posts about tracking and following and using this regimen or that. Discipline, discipline, discipline is the name of the game. What does this mean for fitness? Well, for many people it means they cancel it. For others they just push through … Continue reading Fitness Update: Heat
A Blast of the Past #57: Around the Christmas Tree
Today's blast of the past comes from 2004. Included are shots of Carolers of Note singing in the lobby at the State Street Towers in Downtown Kansas City, shots of trees in our house, and shots of trees in school classrooms.

This was an interesting idea:
Mini Camp Weekend
When the equipment for the mini camp weekend was setting up Friday night at Avondale United Methodist Church it grabbed a lot of attention from the neighborhood. A lot of kids and parents came by to ask what was up.
