A Blast of the Past #42:Fourth Birthday

One of the things from my own youth was a Betty Crocker cookbook for children. It had a macaroni and cheese with hot dogs recipe, and it had a castle cake that we made once for a birthday.

With that memory in mind, I resurrected the plan for by daughter’s fourth birthday. Only this time there were a lot of substitutions. The white castle with pointed ice cream cone towers became a green castle with flat-topped cake cones covered in red icing. The decorations seemed to slide a bit more than the instructions said they should as well. But it was a hit, and everyone enjoyed the celebration.
