#89: Angels We Have Heard on High

(Part of a series singing through the hymnbook I grew up with: Great Hymns of the Faith)

1

Angels we have heard on high, Sweetly singing o’er the plains,

And the mountains, in reply, Echoing their joyous strains.

Gloria in excelsis Deo!

Gloria in excelsis Deo!

2

Shepherds, why this jubilee? Why your joyous strains prolong?

What the gladsome tiding be Which inspire your heav’nly song?

REFRAIN

3

Come to Bethlehem and see Him whose birth the angels sing;

Come, adore on bended knee Christ the Lord, the newborn King.

REFRAIN

4

See Him in a manger laid, Jesus, Lord of heav’n and earth;

Mary, Joseph, lend your aid, With us sing our Savior’s birth.
