Well the final State Offices on the ballot are a little bit of a letdown for me.
The 5th District in the U.S. Representative is a three-way race. I’d be interested in the Libertarian candidate, but I couldn’t get him to respond to a message on his Facebook page. That leaves Emanuel Cleaver, our current representative — a Methodist Pastor who is serving as a politician in direct contravention to his denominations stated policies, and yet is still allowed to do so by the denomination without consequence. That concerns me from both ends.
So I’m left with Jacob Turk, Republican. I’ll be voting for him unless someone gives me better evidence on any of the o

ROY WELBORN 4911 WALROND AVE, KANSAS CITY, MO 64130(Lib)
That leaves two offices for Jefferson City. We only have Lauren Arthur for our State Representative. For State Senate we get Ranen Bechtold or Ryan Silvey.
I went to Bechtold’s Facebook Page to get this policy statement:
This is what I stand for.
Increase the Missouri minimum wage to $15/hr. Why you ask? Because if everyone made this much they would not qualify for most welfare programs. Nobody who works 40 hours a week should have to be subsidized by we, the taxpayer because Walmart pays poverty wages.
Establish Universal Childcare for working moms so they are not scrambling to find a last minute baby sitter because they cant afford regular daycare. I’m talking daycare that is paid for by your school taxes. Every elementary school will have a daycare center. That’s my plan. Child daycare will be public not private.
End corruption by establishing campaign finance donation limits in Missouri to keep out corporate influence.
I believe that taxes need to be just high enough to properly fund the government and no more.
I support expanding Missouri medicaid.
We need tuition caps on state funded collages to lower the cost of higher education.
I support making Unions Stronger and I will stand up for Worker’s Rights
The Second Amendment to our Constitution is clear. The right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed upon. Period. This should include crew served weapons, mortars and RPG’s as well because honestly semi-automatic weapons are not an effective defense against the tyranny of the state.
I cannot support most of what she says. The idea that what one wants will work economically because you want it to work. Sure, taxes should be just high enough to properly fund government, but to fund all thet options she proposes are going to significantly raise taxes. And that minimum wage raise always eliminates jobs.
Contrary to that, Silvey’s Facebook page doesn’t have any policy statement. But the hints on the page sound like a more moderate choice. It seems odd, but I expect to vote for the incumbent on this one.
