Well, this week the software/firmware or the FitBit Flex 2 got an update. And while I am sure there are a lot of good changes in the process, I have noticed one that is especially helpful.
Previously, when you got 50 minutes into an hour and hadn’t made you 250 step quota for the hour, it would give you a buzz to let you know. Now it does that, but it also gives you a slightly different buzz if you get moving and meet your quota. So you no longer have to guess, or sync to your device, to know whether you’ve made your hourly motion quota.
It has a lot of other lights and whistle patterns for various things, but I haven’t really paid attention to understand the differences.
In other fitness news, I picked the bicycle up from Cycle City on Tuesday after getting a “winterization” maintenance update. Now it can shift all three primary gears (#1 was previously inaccessible) but it still has some jumping issuse on gears 7 and 8 for the back shifting mechanism, though that is somewhat better.
I also managed to have a fairly significant spill coming around a corner where I missed the leaves (well-flattened by car traffic, and hiding in shadows) that someone had shoved from their property into the street. The helmet and layers of cold weather biking clothes came in handy, and I was able to get the chain back on and finish the remaining 2 miles home. Knees bruised up and left hand got a really good bruise on it centered around the ring finger. But the swelling is currently going back down, and things seem operational, so I will assume nothing fractured or broke this time — as long as that progress continues.
I have that running training program I mentioned previously. I managed to get 3 of the 5 days of workouts in this week. I got the weights workout, and two aerobic workouts in. With the weather and work schedules I skipped a couple of the othres. Trying new activities makes it hard to get into a flexible schedule, but I should still be on course for my first target race.
