In putting together my recent blog series on Harmony Vs Unity, one of I used one of the features of Wordrpess to create feature images for many of the posts with an AI image generator, giving the the AI prompts, and seeing what it came uup with.
I seldom like what the AI gives at first, and often give refining prompts, until the image is more suiting of what I want to express. But going to 11 interations, as I did for part 4, One must kneel and one must yield, Is quite an extreme, and I would like to explore that one a moment.
I put in a request for a scene with people from both the 1st and 21st centuries illustrating the idea “one will kneel and one will yield” That brought up the first scene: a fist century woman washing the feet of a 21st century man, with a circle of people around them in a mostly first century city setting, each centuries people separate from the other.
I didn’t like several things here, and accused the AI of racism and sexism. I said I wanted the man washing the woman’s feet, and to have the centuries intermingled.
That produced the second picture, where there was a little interaction between the centuries, but the woman still washed the man’s feet.
I tried again. I requested a change to a suburban/rural setting, and fewer people. Man wash woman’s feet. That led to number 3.
I asked, once again, for the Man to wash the Woman’s feet. That led to number 4.
At this point I was seriously questioning the AI’s sexist attitude. I asked the
AI to change the woman to a man and a man to a woman. Number 5 changed the man to a woman, but left the woman a woman. I asked it to change the woman back to a man, and i got a first century man for Number 6.
Now I requested they stay the same, in the same roles, but swap sides. Number 7 showed no visible change to me.
Number 8 I switched the woman for a man washing the man’s feet. It didn’t object to that. I tried to turn the footwasher into a 21st century person, and it changed the century of the person behind him instead for Number 9.
Number 10 I changed the century of the foot washer to 21st century. Almost there, one change more and I might trick the AI into what I wanted. I asked it to make the one of the right a 1st century woman. Voila! Man washing woman’s feet.
And it only took 11 tries.
