Summer of 2005 also included a trip to the Tievoli Hills camping resort outside of Hannibal, MO. We had a lot of fun with all the stuff at the resort, and also took an enjoyable day touring Hannibal as well.

Break Forth Into Joyous Song and Sing Praises: the Doctoral Composition Recital of Geoff Wilcken
For those of you, who like me, enjoy the choral music tradition, nothing is better than getting to hear or perform new works that draw richly upon that tradition, yet show that it is alive and growing with new songs and insights. One such composer that proves that point is Geoff Wilcken. I first came … Continue reading Break Forth Into Joyous Song and Sing Praises: the Doctoral Composition Recital of Geoff Wilcken
#142: Jesus Shall Reign
(Part of a series singing through the hymnbook I grew up with: Great Hymns of the Faith) 1 Jesus shall reign where'er the sun Does his successive journeys run, His kingdom spreads from shore to shore Till moons shall wax and wane no more. 2 From north to south the princes meet To pay their … Continue reading #142: Jesus Shall Reign
Review: Daughter of Mystery
About a month ago I read and reviewed the second book in the Alpennia series of author Heather Rose Jones. Today I am reviewing the first book. Yes, it is a little weird reading the books backwards, but when you get them free through interlibrary loan, you read them in the order received. If I … Continue reading Review: Daughter of Mystery
Fitness Update: Arrival of Fall
I got two 5K runs in last week, but no swims. Forty-Six miles on the bicycle. The weather got cooler this weekend. Two morning with frost. That actually helps running, but requires a wardrobe change for cycling. Figuring out how the heat generation and heat loss offset each other gets interesting. I'm testing out the … Continue reading Fitness Update: Arrival of Fall

Review: A Little Elfy in Big Trouble
A little over two years ago I read and reviewed An Elfy on the Loose by Barb Caffrey. At the time I said I was looking forward to the second part of the duology. Yet here it is a year and a half since the release of A Little Elfy in Big Trouble, and I … Continue reading Review: A Little Elfy in Big Trouble
A Blast of the Past #70: Oceans of Fun
Here are some pictures from Oceans of Fun in 2005. It seems such a long time ago since we had kids young enough to play in the kiddie pools. This was further summer adventure with Grandma while she visited from Upstate New York. Oceans of Fun has changed a lot since then, but most of … Continue reading A Blast of the Past #70: Oceans of Fun
Everybody relax
Okay, the election is over. The hysterics have begun. Everybody just relax. First, to the people who are concerned about dictator Trump: Our government isn't that powerful yet. There are too many other people in there that have to go along, and the Republicans are anything but united. There is too much inertia there for … Continue reading Everybody relax
#140: Open Wide, Ye Doors
(Part of a series singing through the hymnbook I grew up with: Great Hymns of the Faith) 1 Open wide, ye everlasting doors, Let the King of Glory in; Now returning from His earthly wars, He the victory did win. See the rich red woulds He bears, Scars of battle now He wears; He has … Continue reading #140: Open Wide, Ye Doors
