A Blast of the Past #105: GAP Ice Cream social
When Carly was in sixth grade, the church youth program she was in had a special program called GAP for sixth graders, and one of the special events they had was an ice cream social with a huge banana split. These are pictures from that event:
A Blast of the Past #104: Sponge Bob Birthday
Today we jump to another birthday. This one featured a Sponge Bob cupcake cake. Enjoy:
A Blast of the past #103: Sword and Shield birthday
This is September 2008, and the year of the sword and shield birthday cake. It was also the year we got the party guests play wooden swords from the Renaissance Festival as party favors. They had a lot of fun with those, both at the party, and in years to come.
A Blast of the Past #102: Hannibal
On the way back from our meeting with family in Ohio, and tour of the parks, we stopped to see some sights in Hannibal. We always prefer going across Missouri on Route 36 (eventually Interstate I-72?) through Hannibal rather than I-70 to St. Louis. For the first time, for me and the kids, not sure … Continue reading A Blast of the Past #102: Hannibal
A Blast of the Past #101: Cedar Point
Cedar Point was another destination on our 2008 tour. We had a lot of fun, in both the water and amusement park sections. but we came back with very few pictures. Here they are: We enjoyed the Joe Cool Cafe, and still have the lunch boxes the kids meals came in. Wonder if the restaurant … Continue reading A Blast of the Past #101: Cedar Point
A Blast of the Past #100: Ohio Reunion
Today's post is a milestone of pictures. Been reflecting back through pictures for quite awhile to get to 100. So it seems appropriate that this milestone should feature something as important as a meeting of two Lightfoot branches. In the summer of 2008 the New York and Missouri branches met in Ohio. We stayed in … Continue reading A Blast of the Past #100: Ohio Reunion
A Blast of the Past #99: Geauga Lake
One of our favorite finds was Geauga Lake's Wildwater Kingdom Park. Apparently Six Flags once owned an amusement park and water park at Geauga Lake, but ended up selling it to Cedar Fair, which kept the water park open but closed the amusement park, my assumption being that it was too close to Cedar Point … Continue reading A Blast of the Past #99: Geauga Lake
“The World Series is baseball…”
That is what started a very interesting lunch conversation I had today at Worlds of Fun. Unbenownst to me, the initial speaker had seen a poster behind me about "The World Series of Barbecue", and had used that to spark his initial statement. This led to a conversation about baseball, and how the World Series … Continue reading “The World Series is baseball…”
A Blast of the Past #98: Campgrounds
We haven't camped in quite awhile, but back on our tour of Cedar Fair Parks back in 2008 we camped. Here are some pictures of our camping in Hannibal the first night out, Our campground near King's Island, and our Campground near Geauga Lake.
