(Part of a series singing through the hymnbook I grew up with: Great Hymns of the Faith)
This hymn has special family memories for me. My mother would often be pianist during Sunday evening services. They often took requests for hymns to sing. We were instructed never to request this hymn when she was playing: Her fingers were not wide enough to do the octaves in the chorus.
Well, one time she was playing, and someone ELSE requested it. People wondered why our entire family broke out laughing. We had to explain, and mom played it anyway. It was one of my favorite songs growing up.
1
Marvelous message we bring,
Glorious carol we sing,
Wonderful word of the King:
Jesus is coming again! (again!)
CHORUS
Coming again, Coming again;
Maybe morning, maybe noon,
Maybe evening and maybe soon!
Coming again, Coming again;
O what a wonderful day it will be —
Jesus is coming again!
2
Forest and flower exclaim,
Mountain and meadow the same,
All earth and heaven proclaim:
Jesus is coming again! (again!)
CHORUS
3
Standing before Him at last,
Trial and trouble all past,
Crowns at His feet we will cast:
Jesus is coming again! (again!)
CHORUS
