(Part of a series singing through the hymnbook I grew up with: Great Hymns of the Faith) 1 I come to the garden alone, While the dew is still on the roses; And the voice I hear, falling on my ear, The Son of God discloses. Trump remains trump
Okay, 2 years ago today I wrote this post about then-candidate Donald Trump. As you can tell, I was not a supporter, and in fact voted for neither him nor Hillary in the 2016 election. Then almost a year ago I wrote this post about now-President Donald Trump. Today, I do an annual update. I … Continue reading Trump remains trump
A Blast of the Past #134: Baptism
Last week's blast was Carly's confirmation. Today it is her Baptism. Having grown up in a church without infant baptism, she hadn't received Baptism prior to her confirmation, so got baptized after her confirmation up at the swimming hole at the Methodist Retreat center just north of us. Here are the photos of her "going … Continue reading A Blast of the Past #134: Baptism
A Look Ahead …
In this spring of the year (hopeful here, spring isn't for another 12 days), Day 8 of my Sabbatical year, the social calendar seems somewhat slow in the immediate future. So I am going to use this weekly feature to build an event listing, of events I know and think worthy, many of which I … Continue reading A Look Ahead …

I have been able to walk the dog each morning, get my Bible reading and blog post done. I have also managed some leisure reading by the end of the day. But the Master's Degree I … Continue reading Sabbatical Update: Still Hectic
Fitness Update: Sabbatical Status
Well, Fitness has certainly taken an interesting turn. A year ago I was gearing up for a 10K race coming off excellent times on a mile and 5K race the previous 2 months. This year both my mile and my 5K have been sub-par with sickness and illnesses along the way hampering my training rhythm. … Continue reading Fitness Update: Sabbatical Status

A Blast of the Past #133: Carly’s Confirmation
I grew up in a Baptist tradition. We didn't have infant baptism and we didn't have confirmation services. So when moving to Avondale United Methodist Church, we had to get used to both concepts. Today's Blast of the Past is one of those events -- Carly's Confirmation service and day. As you can tell from … Continue reading A Blast of the Past #133: Carly’s Confirmation
