I noticed it on Saturday. The men of the local Islamic center were digging holes to put posts in front of the drive for their parking lot. Today I ran by and saw that they are putting bricks down between the poles, leaving just an open space between the two central ones for, I assume, … Continue reading Enclave or assimilate
#178: The Bible Stands
(Part of a series singing through the hymnbook I grew up with: Great Hymns of the Faith) 1 The Bible stands like a rock undaunted 'Mid the raging storms of time; Its pages burn with the truth eternal, And they glow with a light sublime. CHORUS The Bible stands tho the hills may tumble, It … Continue reading #178: The Bible Stands
The Veneer of Science
I went into the GNC store to purchase a new supply of ON Gold Standard 100% Whey protein shake powder. The store was full of boxes on the floor being opened and unloaded, with one employee there working and doing everything to get them organized. While he helped me with my choice of flavors. He … Continue reading The Veneer of Science
Fitness Update: Weekly Log
This week I am going to do some day-to-day entries showing how I worked out after my 10K race: Monday -- Barely made my 10,000 steps today. Was intending to get up and go to the pool for the first time in months, but the cold and wind deterred me, so instead I biked into … Continue reading Fitness Update: Weekly Log
#177: Thy Word Have I Hid in My Heart
(Part of a series singing through the hymnbook I grew up with: Great Hymns of the Faith) 1 Thy Word is a lamp to my fee, A light to my path alway, To guide and to save me from sin And show me the heav'nly way. Standing Desk: I am Autonomous
Today's post is a quick, mostly pictorial one. It features one of my most recent purchases: An adjustable height desk. My company has a different brand of adjustable desks at work, and I probably spend about half my time standing and half sitting during a regular work day. Since I have the option to work … Continue reading Standing Desk: I am Autonomous
A Blast of the Past #88: BonFire at Shaffers
In the fall of 2007 we had a Church small group bonfire at our long-time friends, the Shaffers. It was hard to realize at that time how soon the group we were with would be heading separate ways; we had been together so long, yet the time of parting was at hand. For us at … Continue reading A Blast of the Past #88: BonFire at Shaffers
Sound and fury
I had this thought while roaming into the breakroom at work. The business news is always droning on the TV. All you can really see are the headlines, which don't say much, and the volume isn't where you can really listen to the patter. But the pattern seems to be one of sound and fury. … Continue reading Sound and fury
#176: Break Thou the Bread of Life
(Part of a series singing through the hymnbook I grew up with: Great Hymns of the Faith) I remember this song as a frequent musical underlay to the communion service in the churches where I grew up. 1 Break Thou the bread of life, Dear Lord, to me, As Thou didst break the loaves Beside … Continue reading #176: Break Thou the Bread of Life
Toontown Revisited
I think it has been over a year since I played Toontown Rewritten. At one point I was playing it 4 hours a weekend; 2 hours each on a Saturday and Sunday. It was the relaxation reward I was giving myself. But then life got busy again and I didn't have the time to give … Continue reading Toontown Revisited
